The artist Chaz Wilmot masterfully masters the techniques of the old masters, but no one needs his talent in the modern world of advertising and glossy covers. Having taken part in an experiment to study the effect of a certain drug on the creative process, he unexpectedly discovers that he can re-experience some events from his past - not remember them, but seem to exist in that time. At some point, he is suddenly transported to a long-gone era and becomes Diego Velazquez, the great artist whom Wilmot has always idolized. And in this role he paints pictures in the style of Velazquez. However, having “returned” to his time, he discovers that his whole life has changed dramatically. He lives in a luxurious apartment with a magnificent studio, paintings with his signature (paintings that he did not paint!) are hung in a fashionable art gallery. What is this, someone’s evil conspiracy to completely cut the ground from under his feet? Or is he just going crazy? Reality and fantasy are so closely intertwined in Wilmot’s mind that he no longer understands in which reality he exists...
