Wu Tunan is sometimes called the “Methuselah of Chinese martial arts”, as this master lived for more than a hundred years. A Mongolian by nationality, he was born at the end of the 19th century into a family of hereditary military men, and thanks to his parents’ connections at the imperial court, he received military, civil and medical education from the best teachers of that time. After the bourgeois-democratic revolution, he was engaged in both teaching humanitarian subjects in schools and universities and practicing martial arts. This book was published in 1928 and combined classical knowledge of taijiquan and new approaches to teaching it at that time. This book was actually the very first taijiquan textbook intended for the general public, and largely determined the direction of studying and teaching taijiquan for the entire coming 20th century. The application contains a large amount of material about the development of style from the publication of this book to the present day.
