The final novel in the Black Mountain Gold trilogy covers a significant period in the life of the Dakota, from the Santee Rebellion in 1862 under the leadership of Little Crow to the famous Battle of the Little Bighorn, where General Custer's detachment was defeated. During the course of the story, readers witness many of the clashes during Red Cloud's War for the Powder River Valley: the destruction of Fetterman's detachment, the battle in the wagon ring, etc. Like the previous two parts, this novel is equipped with detailed commentary and numerous pictures of the sign language of the Plains Indians. In addition, the authors provide short biographies of the famous leaders Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse, Rain in the Face, Red Cloud, etc. In historical terms, the last book of the trilogy is the most informative.
