Bella Akhmadulina is a great Russian poet, in the words of Joseph Brodsky, “the undoubted heiress of the Lermontov-Pasternak line in Russian poetry” with the intense lyricism, sincerity, genuineness of the lyrical voice, and sophistication of forms inherent in her pen. The work of B.
