The Acts of the Danes (Gesta Danorum) by Saxo Grammar (c. 1140–1206/1220) is the main source on the history of medieval Denmark and other Scandinavian countries from ancient times to the end of the 12th century. The chronicle is composed of 16 books written in Latin. Volume II includes books dedicated to the formation of Christianity in Denmark, and the last 4 books describe events close to the time the chronicle was written (before 1185).
