The “Length of Days” duology consists of two parts. One is the novel's body itself. The second is short stories, the author of which is one of the characters in the novel. The novel's body is a war tale. The collection of short stories, on the contrary, is designed in the spirit of realism. Rafeenko easily connects the seemingly incompatible, uses daring rhetorical techniques, and generously scatters allusions, quotes and paraphrases throughout the text. All his reckless miracles are not just like that, but with intention, with an ideological background; behind them lies a clear system of ideas about the structure of the world and the attitude towards it.
