In the 1960s, Petrosyan and Spassky appeared on the chess Olympus - seemingly ordinary, non-heroic champions. But a detailed study of their work shows the enormous scale of talent of these chess kings, and their time on the throne became an important stage in the accumulation of knowledge - a kind of cementing period when the foundation of modern chess was laid. During these years, “Chess Informant” appeared, new opening schemes emerged, ideas about many middlegame positions deepened, familiar dogmas were revised (for example, the approach to positions with an isolated pawn changed), etc. The third volume is dedicated to the life and work of two chess kings - Petrosyan and Spassky, as well as their outstanding rivals - Gligoric, Polugaevsky, Portisch and Stein.
