Автор майстерно створює напружену атмосферу, де кожен персонаж може бути потенційним злочинцем, а кожна деталь має значення. Сюжет, що обертається навколо таємничого вбивства Елспет Сіммонс, захоплює з перших рядків і не відпускає до фіналу. Розкриття таємниць, пов'язаних із п'єсою Джозефіни Тей, додає особливого шарму та інтриги, а також змушує читача замислитися над впливом мистецтва на реальність.
