The book is dedicated to the first successful armed revolution in Latin America after the Cuban-Sandinista revolution in Nicaragua, which won in July 1979.The book gives a brief outline of the history of Nicaragua, describes in detail the struggle of General Augusto Sandino against the American occupation in 1927-1933. The military and economic policy of the dictatorship of the Somoza clan (1936–1979), which allowed it to suppress popular discontent for so long and effectively, is analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the role of the United States in strengthening the Somoza regime, as well as the history of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN), the force that was eventually able to complete the revolution victoriously.
