Marcel Proust is one of the greatest French writers, the founder of modern psychological prose. His most significant work, the cycle of novels "In Search of Lost Time", the writer created for fourteen years. Each novel in the cycle is both a link in the chain of the entire story and an independent work. All seven books are united by the image of the narrator, waking up in the middle of the night and indulging in memories of his life. The present and the past, contemplation and recollection turn out to be timeless and unite into a single picture, laying the foundation for a new type of novel - the “stream of consciousness” novel. The fourth novel in the In Search of Lost Time series, first published in 1922 year, - the last work of Marcel Proust, published during the life of the writer. Initially, Proust wrote a short fragment, entitled "Sodom and Gomorrah" and included in the first edition of the novel "At the Guermantes" as its final part.
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
