The book of Gan Bao (IV-V centuries) “Notes on the Search for Spirits” is one of the oldest and most famous monuments of Chinese literature, telling about “what Confucius did not talk about” - about a variety of evil spirits: about amazing creatures, about animals and werewolf plants, about malicious demons, about the souls of the dead, about wonderful objects and finds that do not always bring happiness to those who happen to meet them. This publication includes the first complete Russian translation of Gan Bao’s collection “Notes on the Search for Spirits” , preceded by a thorough introductory article and provided with detailed notes.
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
