Joseph Kessel's historical novel "The Healer" is based on real events and tells the story of a little-known episode in the history of World War II. The main character of the book, Felix Kersten (1898–1960), by the will of fate, becomes the personal physician of the Reichsführer SS Heinrich Himmler, one of the most monstrous villains in world history. During World War II, Felix Kersten occupies a prominent place in Himmler's inner circle and gains significant influence over his high-ranking patient. All five years spent next to him, the doctor, who hid his anti-Nazi views, pulls people out of concentration camps in dozens and hundreds, saving them from inevitable death. Risking his own life, during the war Kersten saved more than 100,000 people, including 60,000 Jews. Published in Russian for the first time.
