A young woman named Kiko moves to a small town by the sea. She settles in a house that has been empty for a long time, doesn’t work anywhere, has a scar on her stomach, and local residents begin to gossip about whether she escaped from Tokyo from the Yakuza. Kiko experiences the loss of a friend and at night plays in her headphones the voice of a fifty-two hertz whale - the loneliest creature in the world. She couldn’t hear what the person most important to her was trying to convey, so now she hopes not to miss the songs of other lonely whales, because she herself is one of them.
