The young woman, Anna von Seydlitz, is close to despair. Her husband, an antiques dealer from Munich, dies in a mysterious car accident. A film falls into Anna’s hands, where the same object is captured: parchment with text in Coptic. She soon realizes that there is a mystery associated with the manuscript, since she is offered a fantastic sum for the original. In search of the missing parchment, Anna goes to Paris, where a professor, a teacher at one of the American universities, makes a senseless, at first glance, attempt on a painting by Leonardo da Vinci and pours acid on it...

Пошуки загадкового пергаменту, пов'язаного з таємницями минулого, переносять читача в різні куточки Європи, зокрема до Парижа, де відбуваються неймовірні події. Особливо вразила деталізація персонажів та їхніх емоцій, що робить їх живими і близькими. Хоча в тексті є деякі недоліки в перекладі, вони не заважають насолоджуватися сюжетом.
