The names of father and son Timofey Ivanovich and Alexey Timofeevich Tutolmin were widely known in public circles in Russia at the turn of the 18th–19th centuries. The Tutolmin family came from hereditary military men who served in the Russian army as governors and captains in the 16th–17th centuries. Timofey and Alexey Tutolmin proved themselves not only in the military field, but achieved great success while holding various administrative positions in peacetime. With their educational activities they contributed to the prosperity of Russia. Corresponded with the emperors: Catherine the Second, Paul the First, Alexander the First, with the commanders A.V. Suvorov and G.A. Potemkin, the writer G.R. Derzhavin. The book was written on the basis of unpublished documents, a significant part of which is being introduced into scientific circulation for the first time . This is the first detailed study in our historiography of the life and work of Russian patriots, patron generals Timofey and Alexei Tutolmin. The book is intended for historians, local historians and everyone interested in Russian history.
