The book is dedicated to the centuries-old history of the city of Staritsa and the Assumption Monastery, in which Saint Herman, High Hierarch Job and Saint Dionysius were brought up. But the main thing in this work is the search for documentary evidence about the tomb of the locally revered ascetic of faith and piety, Schema-nun Pelagia, who, as it turned out later, was the mother of the first Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' Job. For more than 80 years, her grave, like the entire interior of the city’s Ascension Church, was covered with a thick layer of garbage. And only thanks to the patriots and patrons of the initiative group, headed by N.P. Budakov, the almost interrupted spiritual connection of centuries and generations was restored. Now the relics of the locally revered schema-nun Pelagia are located on the territory of the Old Assumption Monastery.
