The infamous novel by the Austrian writer Leopold von Sacher-Masoch (1836–1895) “Venus in Furs” is famous not so much for its literary merits as for the name of the author, from whom the sexopathological practice of masochism took its name. The psychological and philosophical meaning of this phenomenon is revealed in the study of the modern French thinker Gilles Deleuze (b. 1925) “The Presentation of Sacher-Masoch”, as well as in the works of the founder of psychoanalysis Sigmund Freud (1856–1939), the Russian translation of which is published for the first time in this edition. The book is intended for a wide range of readers interested in the problems of modern culture. The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
