Friedrich Nietzsche is a German philosopher who questioned the basic principles of existing forms of morality, religion, culture and socio-political relations. The main concept in Nietzsche's philosophical theory is the image of a superman, who in his power should surpass modern man as much as the latter surpassed the monkey. The superman is a creator whose powerful will directs the vector of historical development. Sigmund Freud, an Austrian psychologist, psychiatrist and neurologist, is best known as the founder of psychoanalysis, which had a significant influence on psychology, medicine, sociology, anthropology, literature and art of the 20th century. Among Freud's achievements, the most important is the development of a model of the psyche consisting of the “Id”, “I” (or “Ego”) and the “Super-Ego” (or “Super-Ego”). These three components are in constant interaction, despite the fact that the “Super-Ego” plays the main role in the formation of the human personality. Which is closer to the truth – the holistic image of Nietzsche’s “superman” or Freud’s fragmented, contradictory man? The reader has the right to make his own choice based on the works of these two great philosophers.
