The second edition of Natalya Gromova’s book is dedicated to the little-studied pages of evacuation during the Great Patriotic War - the fate of writers and the dramas of their families. The evacuation opened up for many writers the spirit of the outback, the province, and in Tashkent and Alma-Ata - a special world of the East. Life in Noah's Ark, as Akhmatova called the evacuation, forever left a mark on the pages of their books and notebooks. In this book, many writers appear - from the famous Tsvetaeva, Pasternak, Chukovsky, Fedin and Leonov and many others to the completely forgotten Yakov Keyhouse or Yaropolk Semenov. The book is based on diary entries, letters, memoirs and oral accounts of witnesses of those years. The reader will be able to see the everyday, everyday, unpretentious face of war.

Завдяки щоденниковим записам, листам та мемуарам, читач отримує можливість заглянути в побут і внутрішній світ літераторів, які пережили ці важкі часи. Особливо вражає, як Громова зуміла передати атмосферу життя в Ташкенті та Алма-Аті, створюючи яскраві образи та емоції. Хоча переклад тексту іноді має недоліки, це не зменшує цінності самої книги. Рекомендую всім, хто хоче глибше зрозуміти не лише літературу, а й людські драми, що стоять за великими творами!
