The Englishman Graham Greene (1904–1991) is known in Russia as the creator of fascinating, world-famous novels (“The Quiet American,” “Our Man in Havana,” “The Comedians”). This collection is an attempt to introduce the reader to another, almost unknown Greene, a short story writer. The book contains nineteen stories written by Greene in his young and mature years. Their plots are very diverse: from exciting detective stories to psychological novels in miniature, from amusing and funny cases to true tragedies. The writer's irony and keen observation create a special style that makes his prose unique.
