Only madmen claim that there is no fear. It lies in wait for us everywhere - in the dark corners of deserted streets, in a sunny exam room, in the need to make a decision, in the first step, in changes, in news feeds. In the snow-white desert of a blank sheet, on which, it seems, you are not able to write a single letter. How to cope with this horror? Start writing anything! It’s better to start writing for the Litres Samizdat competition “It’s scary, but write!” In honor of the scariest day of the year, Halloween, hundreds of authors took the advice and put pen to paper. Eleven writers became winners, their works were included in the final collection of the competition. The top three were headed by Mara Gaag “Our House”, Oleg Savoshchik “Goat”, Vasily Zavadsky “Pit with Bones”. Stories in the genres of horror, mysticism and thriller are devoted to a variety of topics: emergency housing and its strange inhabitants, a frightening thicket of the forest, ghosts of the past, otherworldly secrets, the search for an existential boundary, loneliness. And the eternal question: who is more terrible - monsters invented by people, or people themselves, hiding true evil in their black souls? The jury of the competition included ambassadors of the Liters publishing services Katerina Ryder and Anton Mamon, author of action-packed prose Nikolai Obodnikov, chief editor publishing house "RIPOL classic" Tatyana Solovyova.
