The work of the writer and historian Daniil Lukich Mordovtsev (1830–1905) is extensive and varied. His numerous historical works, both fiction and documentary, have always been perceived with great interest by modern readers, have been reprinted several times and translated into many languages. The main character of the novel “The Noble Lady” is Elena Masalskaya, a representative of two of the most distinguished Polish families: the Masalskys and the Radziwills. At the age of eight, she finds herself in France with her uncle, who fled there after the suppression of the Polish uprising. From a little girl she turns into a very educated, rich and one of the most beautiful brides in Paris, whose hand is sought by the best grooms in France. Helena becomes the wife of Prince de Ligne and gives him a daughter. This ends the Parisian stage of her life.

The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
