The work of the writer and historian Daniil Lukich Mordovtsev (1830-1905) is extensive and varied. His numerous historical works, both fiction and documentary, have always been perceived with great interest by the modern reader, have been reprinted several times and translated into many languages. This volume presents two works by Mordovtsev, from the life of Ancient Egypt. The novel “The Walled Queen” is dedicated to the reign of Ramses III. A conspiracy is brewing against the pharaoh, led by his wife, Queen Tia. “Joseph in the Land of Pharaoh” is a story about the strange but happy fate of the young man Joseph, whom his brothers sold into slavery in Egypt.
