"Kirza and Lyre" by Vladislav Vishnevsky is an absolutely truthful and almost documentary chronicle of army life in the USSR. This is a thoughtful and ironic look by the famous writer at the three-year period of compulsory military service in the mid-60s. In the book, a simple Soviet boy faces a difficult fate - to become a soldier and an army musician. Few people imagine that army musicians repaid their debt to the Motherland, combining the difficult work of soldiers with the equally difficult and responsible work of a musician. But neither the strict regulations, nor the drill, nor the exhausting rehearsals could break the determination of the protagonist, his optimism and youthful enthusiasm. The novel is filled with pathos, military humor, sincere feelings and lively dialogues. The author of the story “Kirza and Lyre” Vladislav Vishnevsky is a famous writer and screenwriter, author of a dozen books, including the filmed novel “National Treasure”, a series based on which was released on Russian television. in 2006.
