Авторка, Шань Са, майстерно передає атмосферу епохи, описуючи не лише політичні інтриги, а й повсякденне життя в Забороненому Місті. Історія дівчинки, яка зуміла піднятися з низів до імператорського трону, вражає своєю глибиною та емоційністю. Читач відчуває всі труднощі та радощі героїні, її боротьбу за владу та визнання в світі, де жінки часто залишаються в тіні. Описані звичаї та традиції того часу надають роману особливого шарму, а поєднання східної та західної культур робить його ще більш цікавим. Хоча переклад не завжди ідеальний, це не заважає насолоджуватися чудовою історією. Рекомендую всім, хто цікавиться історією та культурою Китаю, а також любителям сильних жіночих образів у літературі!
