Jonathan Leatham is an American writer, author of nine novels, short stories and essays that have been published in The New Yorker, Harper's, Rolling Stone, Esquire, The New York Times and others; winner of the MacArthur Fellowship (2005), which is called the “award for geniuses”; finalist of the National Book critics Circle Award - World Fantasy Award, 1996. Leatham's books have been translated into more than thirty languages. Dissident Gardens, his latest book, is a monumental family saga. The story of three generations of “anti-American Americans” Angrush - Zimmer - Gogan is assembled, like a mosaic, from the fragmentary memories of many characters - among them American communists of the 1930s-1950s, hippies of the 60s-70s, and Occupy activists of the 2010s . In this novel, where the episodes are carefully mixed and swapped, the reader is invited to independently restore the chronology and logical relationship of events.

"Сади дисидентів" Джонатана Літема - це справжній літературний шедевр, який занурює читача у складний світ трьох поколінь "антиамериканських американців". Автор майстерно переплітає спогади різних персонажів, створюючи багатошарову картину американської культури та політики. Кожен епізод, хоч і здається уривчастим, насправді є важливою частиною великої мозаїки, що дозволяє читачеві самостійно відновлювати хронологію подій. Літем вміло грає з часом, дозволяючи нам заглянути в минуле, щоб зрозуміти сучасність. Хоча переклад тексту здійснювався за допомогою штучного інтелекту, і в деяких місцях можна знайти недоліки, це не зменшує загального враження від книги.
