“Feat” (1930, published 1931–1932), Vladimir Nabokov’s fourth Russian novel, tells the story of a young Russian emigrant with Swiss roots and the exotic name Martyn Edelweiss, who, by the will of fate, finds himself in a foreign land. The life path of the book’s hero runs through almost the whole of Europe, partly coinciding with the author’s emigrant routes and forcing one to remember the ancient meaning of the word “feat” - travel, wandering, movement. Finding himself alternately in Greece, England, Germany, France and Switzerland, Martin persistently searches for himself - in creativity, in work, in love, in sports, in various tests of his own courage - and in the finale of the novel he decides on a senselessly heroic, sacrificial act, embarking on the path of true heroism: he rejects the possibility of a legal return to Russia and secretly, at the risk of his life, crosses the Russian border, disappearing into the mysterious darkness of a forest path.

The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
