The story “Honor,” written in 1937, is considered by some critics as a kind of narrative about the childhood and youth of the author himself. True, Makarenko gave some features of his parents to the heroes of the story - father and mother Teplov. Makarenko set himself a different goal: he wanted to show how the problem of honor was understood before the revolution and in the first post-revolutionary years, how different classes related to this moral category.

Повість «Честь» є справжнім шедевром, який відкриває перед читачем складні питання моралі, честі та людських відносин у період змін. Макаренко вміло передає атмосферу свого часу, показуючи, як різні соціальні класи сприймали цю важливу категорію. Герої повісті, зокрема батьки Теплові, втілюють у собі риси, які можна вважати відображенням самого автора, що робить їх ще більш реалістичними та близькими. Читання цієї книги спонукає до роздумів про цінності, які залишаються актуальними й сьогодні. Хоча текст перекладено за допомогою штучного інтелекту, і в ньому можуть бути деякі недоліки, це не зменшує його значущості. Я б рекомендував цю повість всім, хто цікавиться літературою, що досліджує глибокі моральні питання та людську природу.
