Second half of the twentieth century. characterized by a sharp change in the structure of morbidity. For many previous decades, infectious diseases were the main cause of morbidity and mortality among all populations, especially children. Currently, thanks to the improvement of social conditions, the creation of active vaccines against pathogens of infectious diseases, as well as the development of effective methods of therapy, many infectious diseases have been completely or almost completely eliminated. However, the elimination of infections has not led to the expected reduction in mortality and an increase in life expectancy of the population, which is explained by an increase number of patients with cardiovascular disease. Among them, the most common are hypertension and atherosclerosis. According to numerous epidemiological studies, it is clear that in economically developed countries the number of people with high blood pressure is 8–15% of the total population. The incidence of hypertension is especially high in older people.
