Henri Troyat (real name Lev Tarasov) was born in 1911 in Moscow. In the 1920s, the family emigrated to France. Henri Troyat is a French writer, member of the French Academy. In 1938 he received the Goncourt Prize for his novel “The Spider.” The novel “The Writer’s Daughter” is a new work by this eminent author (2001).
