"Gentlemen Officers" is the second part of Boris Vasiliev's dilogy "They Happened and They Never Happened", dedicated to the Russian-Turkish War (1877-1878). The central figure of the narrative here is General Mikhail Dmitrievich Skobelev, the legendary hero of the battles of Plevna and Shipka. The young nobles of Oleksin also take part in these most important historical events.
