"Gentlemen Officers" is the second part of Boris Vasiliev's dilogy "They Happened and They Never Happened", dedicated to the Russian-Turkish War (1877-1878). The central figure of the narrative here is General Mikhail Dmitrievich Skobelev, the legendary hero of the battles of Plevna and Shipka.
