The action of Boris Vasiliev's new novel covers the period from the 1917 revolution to the Great Patriotic War. The heroes of the book are members of the large noble Vereskovsky family. Each of them chose their own path: some became victims of terror, others were its conductor. The children scattered in different directions, their parents lost track of them. A famous writer calls Russia “the country of denial”, trying to find the origins of its fate in distant and near history.
