Aurelius Augustine’s “Confessions” is the greatest monument of self-knowledge, presenting the events of personal life as an integral part of spiritual experience. Augustine created a unique narrative that combines historical events, deep thoughts, strong emotions and theological and philosophical insights. Augustine overcame the idea of biography as a pagan destiny and created autobiography as a commentary on Christian Revelation. “Confession” is published with an introductory article by Doctor of Philology Alexander Markov, explaining the poetics and religious and philosophical content of the monument. Автор вміло поєднує особисті переживання з богословськими роздумами, що робить текст не лише автобіографічним, а й філософським коментарем до християнського вчення. Читання цієї книги – це подорож у світ емоцій, сумнівів і пошуків сенсу життя. Вступна стаття Олександра Маркова додає цінності, пояснюючи поетику та релігійно-філософський зміст твору, що дозволяє краще зрозуміти глибину думок Августина. Хоча переклад тексту, виконаний за допомогою штучного інтелекту, в цілому якісний, іноді зустрічаються недоліки, які можуть відволікати від читання. Проте, навіть з цими нюансами, «Сповідь» залишається важливим твором, який варто прочитати кожному, хто прагне зрозуміти себе та своє місце у світі.
