The outstanding Russian religious philosopher Semyon Ludwigovich Frank (1877-1950), who remarkably consistently develops the main paradigm of Russian religious philosophy - the paradigm of All-Unity, in the works included in this edition appears in an uncharacteristic role for himself - goes beyond the pure, so to speak. , philosophy and creates a fruitful model for combining the latter with theology. In this book, Frank sets out the foundations of Christianity and proves that all the essential content of Christianity is based on religious experience, on the “meeting of the human heart with God,” on living “communion with God.” Distinguishing between two concepts of faith, faith as trust, and faith as reliable knowledge, Frank shows that trust in authority presupposes such experiences that indicate that authority really expresses the truth about God. Consequently, even faith in religious authority is based on faith as knowledge based on religious experience. Likewise, he argues for the connection between our reliance on “positive revelation” and our immediate religious experiences. The philosopher examines in detail the concept of suffering within the framework of the religious concept and historical and cultural development, which is generally characteristic of most Russian philosophers of the 19th and early 20th centuries.
