General Pyotr Nikolaevich Krasnov went down in Russian history primarily as a valiant warrior, one of the leaders of the White movement, and also as a military historian and writer. Literary creativity of P.N. Krasnov is diverse. He has written wonderful travel diaries, vivid historical works, interesting memoir essays, profound work on military psychology, historical novels and studies. P.N. Krasnov was a great expert and patriot of the Don Cossacks. One of his best historical books is “Pictures of the Bygone Quiet Don” (in our publication “History of the Don Army”), where he vividly and fascinatingly describes the glorious pages of the history of the Don, traditions, life of the Cossacks, talks about Cossack heroes - Krasnoshchekov, Denisov, Platov , Baklanov, etc. According to Krasnov, the glory of the Don is connected precisely with the selfless service of the Cossacks to the all-Russian cause. Moreover, the imperial period gave the largest number of Cossack names, which became the national pride of all of Russia.
