“Notes of a Cameraman” was published in 1916, during the era of silent films. The hero of the novel by Serafino Gubbio is a cameraman. Gradually he turns into one with his movie camera, tries to be the same as it, a mechanism - passionless, wordless, indifferent to people and things, he wants to overcome passions, worries, fears and even love. But is a living person capable of this? Can he become a thing, mute, emotionless, soulless? And if it can, then at what cost? The novel is being published in translation into Russian for the first time. Luigi Pirandello (1867–1936) is an Italian playwright, short story writer and novelist, Nobel Prize laureate (1934).

The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
