England, 17th century. The time of Oliver Cromwell's protectorate. After an unsuccessful attempt to regain the throne, King Charles II Stuart becomes an outcast in his own country. Having disguised himself and changed his name, he, accompanied by only one loyal supporter, young Julian Grantham, tries to escape to the continent. By chance finding himself in a church where a fanatical priest has driven his flock into a frenzy, Charles and Lord Julian prevent the crowd from tearing apart the two daughters of Baron Robsart. However, neither the crowned fugitive nor his companion know that a terrible curse hangs over the castle and death has settled in it.

Книга "Замок таємниць" переносить читача в атмосферу XVII століття, коли Англія переживала складні часи протекторату Олівера Кромвеля. Автор майстерно поєднує історичні факти з вигаданими подіями, створюючи інтригуючий сюжет, який тримає в напрузі до останньої сторінки. Персонажі, зокрема король Карл II Стюарт та його вірний супутник Джуліан, прописані дуже детально, їхні переживання та емоції відчуваються на кожній сторінці. Замок Сент-Прайорі, з його таємницями та прокляттям, стає справжнім героєм книги, додаючи елемент містики та загадки. Хоча переклад тексту має деякі недоліки, це не заважає насолоджуватися історією. Рекомендую цю книгу всім, хто любить історичні романи з елементами трилера та містики!
