The collection includes seven stories by contemporary Russian writers living in Israel, on this side of the Jordan. The stories are very diverse in style and content, but they have one thing in common. As the compiler of the collection, David Markish, writes, “the first generation of returnees, as a rule, preserves the Russian language and Russian culture. A culture that, under the Israeli sun, is gradually acquiring a stable Jewish connotation. Biblical reminiscences and a sense of living belonging to historical roots connect Russian writers living in Israel with authors writing in Hebrew.”
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
