The plot of the novel “The Rock” takes place on the Isle of Lewis, far from the shores of northern Scotland. A brutal murder occurred, similar to another that had happened shortly before in Edinburgh. Policeman Fin MacLeod was born on the island, so he was entrusted with the case. Once on site, MacLeod does not yet know that he will have to uncover not only a murder, but also a chilling secret from his own past. Peter May, a famous Scottish detective author and television scriptwriter, filmed a series in Lewes in the Gaelic language and spent several years there. This experience allowed him to give the events described in the book a special authenticity. Pictures of a harsh, gloomy landscape, merciless weather, and traditional bird hunting immerse the reader in the authentic atmosphere of the Scottish countryside.

Вражаючий трилер з глибокими емоціями
Роман «Скеля» вразив мене своєю глибиною та атмосферою. Сюжет, що розгортається на віддаленому острові Льюїс, занурює читача у світ суворої природи та таємниць, які ховає минуле. Поліцейський Фін Маклауд, повертаючись на рідний острів, не лише розслідує жорстоке вбивство, але й стикається з власними демонами, що робить його персонажа надзвичайно реалістичним і близьким. Автор майстерно передає атмосферу шотландської глибинки, описуючи не лише пейзажі, але й традиції, які надають сюжету особливого колориту. Хоча переклад тексту місцями має недоліки, це не заважає насолоджуватися захоплюючою історією. Я б рекомендував цю книгу всім, хто любить детективи з елементами психологічної драми та глибокими персонажами. Вона залишила в мені сильне враження і змусила задуматися про минуле та його вплив на наше сьогодення.
