The book brings to the attention of Russian readers a relatively little-studied part of the creative heritage of Vladimir Nabokov - interviews, articles on translation problems, reviews, essays, polemical notes of the 1940s - 1970s. The collection can safely be called unique: the vast majority of materials in Russian are published for the first time; some of them, taken from American and European periodicals, have never been republished in any language in the world. Presenting with maximum completeness the aesthetic credo, literary likes and dislikes, as well as the ideological principles of the famous writer, the book will arouse interest both among researchers and admirers of Nabokov’s work, and among a wide range of lovers of intellectual prose. The publication is equipped with detailed comments and contains rare photographs and drawings - a kind of visual chronicle of the life path of the most mysterious and “opaque” classic of world literature.
