This book represents a unique experience in the study of little-known and simply unknown sides of the war in Afghanistan, starting with the April 1978 coup and ending with the withdrawal of Soviet troops in February 1989. Based on rich factual material - evidence from Soviet diplomats, military personnel, and intelligence officers, high-ranking party functionaries, as well as top Afghan political and military leaders, the authors attempt to decipher many of the mysterious and dramatic moments of the war and what preceded it.

Книга "Вторгнення" стала для мене справжнім відкриттям. Автори майстерно досліджують маловідомі аспекти війни в Афганістані, розкриваючи таємниці, які залишалися в тіні протягом багатьох років. Від квітневого перевороту 1978 року до виведення радянських військ у 1989 році, читач отримує глибоке розуміння політичних і військових подій того часу. Особливо вражає, як автори змогли зібрати свідчення високопоставлених функціонерів та афганських діячів, що додає книзі достовірності та живості. Хоча переклад тексту іноді має недоліки, це не зменшує цінності інформації, яку книга пропонує.
