At the center of the novel “Disappearance” is the fate of the Double of the President of the Russian Federation, who has a phenomenal resemblance to the original and an amazing talent to copy it absolutely exactly. The duration of the action is the second half of 2023 and the very beginning of 2024.

An important feature of the text is that through the Double’s perception of the President’s actions and deeds over a number of years (he is called the Supreme Ruler - VV) the readers are presented the image of the Russian leader in the totality of his views, phobias, distorted ideas about his country and the world. Reminiscences make it possible to trace the secret, carefully hidden, associated with crimes and the death of people. In the novel, in fact, there are two main characters - the Double (Yakov Petrovich) and VV.

As the sharp detective plot develops, the Double becomes the head of state. And then - an unexpected denouement... But before that, he goes through a complex internal evolution - from respect for VV and partly admiration for him to complete denial of what he did during his reign.
