Anatoly Sanzharovsky’s story “Mother Said...” is the everyday life of a peasant. The author recalls: “For 35 years I secretly wrote down my mother’s everyday stories about herself and loved ones. If she noticed that I was writing something down for her, she immediately fell silent angrily. We had to do everything in such a way that she had no idea about any notes.” The story was published 18 years after the death of her mother.
