Petr Nikolaevich Krasnov (1869–1943) is known to modern readers primarily as one of the leaders of the White movement during the Civil War in Russia. He has written dozens of books, several historical novels, among which “The Regicides” is one of the most successful. Talking about the attempts of the Narodnaya Volya members to eliminate Emperor Alexander II, P.N. Krasnov successfully portrays the type of revolutionary who brings to life what the heroes of Dostoevsky’s novel “Demons” once preached. The novel was first published in Paris in 1938.
