The anthology is the first publication in Russia that brings together under one cover the works of Orthodox Christians and “heretics”, covering almost a millennium and a half. Many of the texts included in the Anthology were translated into Russian for the first time, and the accompanying articles were written taking into account the latest achievements of modern patrol science. The second volume includes works by more than thirty authors of the 6th-15th centuries. The scope of the volume covers the theological and philosophical systems that arose in this period, the perception by Christian authors of Neoplatonism and disputes with pagan philosophy, polemics with Monophysitism, Tritheism, Origenism and Monothelitism, disputes about icon veneration, polemics with the Latins and Latin wise men, disputes about universals, Palamite disputes, some issues of Eucharistic theology and other topics key to understanding the world of Eastern Christian theology, philosophy and culture.
