To the first volume of the Collected Works of E.-T.-A. Hoffman (1776–1822) includes “Fantasies in the Manner of Callot” (1814–1819), which made him famous, the play “The Princess of Blandina” (1814) and “The Extraordinary Sufferings of the Theater Director” (1818).
“ Kreisleriana" is a series of essays and critical articles written from 1810 to 1815. It essentially marks the beginning of German romantic music criticism, and it thoroughly reveals a number of important elements of Hoffmann's aesthetic program.
