The collection includes three plays by Bernard Shaw. Among them, the most famous is Pygmalion (1912), which was made into many films and the legendary Broadway musical My Fair Lady. The plot is based on an ancient Greek myth about how a sculptor tries to revive the beautiful statue he created. And the hero of Shaw's play tries to turn a simple flower girl into a sophisticated aristocrat in 6 months. "'Pygmalion' is a mockery of blue-blood fans...every play of mine was a stone that I threw at the windows of Victorian prosperity," Shaw said. In 1977, a ballet film based on this play was staged with E. Maksimova and M. Liepa. “Pygmalion” is still successfully shown in theaters all over the world. The publication also includes the play “Candida” (1895) - about the incomprehensible and mysterious, not amenable to rational explanation, why a woman can love a man; and “The Dark Lady of the Sonnets” (1910) is a unique dramatization of the hidden plot of Shakespeare’s sonnets.
