Having accidentally met a pretty woman on the street, Nero Wolfe's assistant Archie Goodwin becomes embroiled in intrigue around the Gallente modeling agency and the murder of one of its executives. Wolfe inevitably has to take up this case in order not to end up in the role of a witness at the trial, which he so dislikes.
The primary version of the story (short story) Murder Is No Joke (Murder Is No Joke) was published in February 1958. In the summer of the same year, a revised (expanded) version of this story (short story) Frame-Up for Murder was published.
