For the first time in Russian! This is the first collection of short stories in recent years since Tokyo Legends (2005) was published in Japan. Haruki Murakami wrote several novels. And only in the spring of 2013 did he compose the story “Samsa in Love,” which is included in the book as a prologue. And after it, the author got the mood and desire to write a collection of stories “Men without Women”, the very title of which contains the motive and key idea of all the short stories: the main characters are men, those who were abandoned by women for various reasons, those who lost love throughout my life or did not achieve it. Tokyo University professor Mitsuyoshi Numano wrote about the collection as follows: “After reading, a blues melancholy remains in the subconscious from the inability of women and men, even the closest ones, to fully understand each other’s souls. Modern people, having lost faith in the gods and their own destiny, have developed in themselves the so-called “organ of loneliness,” which helps them lie even to those whom they love with all their hearts, and they are simply unable to get rid of this product of mental mutation.”
