We more or less know what a “black hole” is from books about space and science fiction. What about a “white hole”? Nikolai Verevochkin claims that there is such a phenomenon. The heroes of the novel live ordinary lives, but constantly find themselves in unusual situations. Proclus Shaikin really wants to get rich, but on the way to gold he is faced with continuous upside-down holes, in some places incredibly vile. One family sleeping intimately with their pets and a disgusting rat tank are enough to imagine the mutant state of the rural outback. But then Proclus finally gets from the dystopian “Anticipia” to the utopian “Hole”, where a change of hero occurs: Triton Okhlomonich appears, who decides to commit suicide, but at the very last moment fate suddenly gives him the power of God. But how difficult it is to be a god! Will he be able to use this gift? The novel is replete with unexpected plot twists. It inextricably links reality and fantasy, humor and sadness, and sadness that excludes despondency. The theme of choice runs through both works by Nikolai Verevochkin - between destruction and creation, life and death, spiritual sensitivity and spiritual deafness. His works help to see eternal values in the tragic chaos of what is happening, to stop amid the bustle and try to determine the meaning of one’s life and one’s place in the universe. A person may be poor, untalented, unintelligent, driven to despair, may make mistakes and even lose his name. But a person cannot live without a soul, and he should not be vile. If the soul is destroyed, there is no person, the author warns.
